Kinau Hale Parking Lot L

Kinau Hale Parking Lot L

Resurfacing and Restriping

Background

Kinau Hale, located in Hawaii’s Capital District, is used primarily by the State Department of Health (DOH). It houses the department director’s office as well the vital records office. Parking Lot L is located directly mauka of Kinau Hale, between Miller and Punchbowl Street. It is used by state government employees and is maintained by the Department of Accounting and General Services (DAGS) Automotive Management Division.

Although the asphalt concrete (AC) parking lot has been repaved and restriped in the past, stall markings and striping are difficult to see due to fading. In addition, there is significant vegetation and root growth through the parking lot surface and depressions where ponding accumulates after heavy rains.

Description of Work

The State of Hawaii contracted Gray, Hong, Nojima & Associates, Inc. to prepare construction plans and specifications to: (1) Clean and prepare the parking lot surface, including patching of any cracks as necessary, (2) Provide 1.5” of new AC overlay, and (3) Restripe and renumber parking stalls, access aisles, curbs, and directional arrows. The scope of work also included services during bidding and construction observation.
